Making that inside information pay draws him into the web of intrigue surrounding the Contra war in Nicaragua and takes him to Vienna, London and Paris, Panamá, Lima and La Paz, even to the Isla de la Luna, a tiny island in the expanse of Lake Titicaca where he cuts a deal with the head of a shady South American cabal to syndicate the bonds.

This is a terrific book. It has a little bit of everything, suspense, high finance, love affairs, spies, international intrigue, lots of history, and, on top of that, it is extremely well-written. What more can you ask for? While this is published as a Kindle eBook, it is far better than many books that I have read by more famous authors.It is the story of Jack McCall, an economist and financial consultant, who decides to leave the incessant travel to buy a small bank in southern Texas and settle down to a more "normal" life. It is not to be. In the financial troubles of the 1980's, his bank goes under, and the remainder of the book tells the story of how he attempts to recover from this. In the process of doing so, he gets involved with historic Tsarist bonds which he inherits from a close friend (Audrey), the Iran-Contra scandal in the Reagan administration, and several schemes to turn the bonds into huge profits. The fun in the book as how he manages do do all this, survive attacks by several villains who want him dead, and have beautiful women to boot.
While he is doing this, we are introduced to lots of exotic places around the world, the best restaurants and hotels in these places and have an opportunity to brush up on our high school French and Spanish. The book is a combination of travelogue and intrigue. In short, it is very entertaining and a great read. I recommend it highly.

James Christian writes excellent books that are good reading even if I don't understand the international banking stuff he writes about.
I have read every book Brad Thor and Daniel Silva have written and needed a new author. Just found James Christian. He has two great books out!! This book and " The Armenian Affair". Both are filled with international espionage, great plots, suspense, romance and superb character development. A must read!!
